Sika FerroGard 903+ 25kg

Sika FerroGard 903+ is a surface applied mixed corrosion inhibitor which can be used for impregnation of steel reinforced concrete. Based on organic compounds, this corrosion inhibitor is an improved formulation of the original Sika FerroGard-903.

Sika FerroGard -903+ is designed to both delay the start of corrosion and reduce corrosion rate. As a part of a complete, simple and effective Sika Concrete Repair and Protection system, Sika FerroGard -903+ can increase corrosion protection service and maintenance life cycles by up to 15 years.

Best uses for Sika FerroGard 903+

Formulated to penetrate concrete and form a protective monomolecular layer on the surface of reinforcing steel, Sika FerroGard-903+ is most commonly used for the corrosion protection of steel reinforced concrete structures above and below the ground.

Sika FerroGard903+ is also used as a corrosion control treatment for undamaged reinforced concrete where the reinforcing steel is corroding or is at risk from corrosion (due to the concrete being carbonated or chloride contaminated).

We also highly recommend using Sika Ferrogard 903+ to extend the service life of aesthetically valuable fair-faced concrete surfaces such as historic structures.

Characteristics & Advantages of Sika FerroGard-903+

Sika FerroGard903+ offers long term protection and durability, as well as easy and economical application which can be renewed effortlessly. The corrosion inhibitor can be applied to the surface of existing repairs and the surrounding areas to prevent the development of incipient anodes, or in situations where other repair/prevention options are not viable.

An economic extension of the service life of reinforced concrete structures, Sika FerroGard 903+ does not change the appearance of the structure or alter the water vapour diffusion properties of concrete.

If stored properly in a cool environment, unsealed Sika FerroGard-903+ has a shelf life of up to 24 months from date of production. The product may experience crystallisation in the case of frost (< -5°C) – you can reverse this by allowing the corrosion inhibitor to warm up at room temperature (+15 to +25 °C) and stirring well to re-dissolve the crystals.

Sika FerroGard-903+ Application Instructions

During the application of Sika FerroGard903+, consider the following:

Sika FerroGard 903+ Substrate Quality

Before applying Sika FerroGard-903+, make sure the concrete is free from any surface contamination that might reduce or prevent penetration. This includes any existing renders, coatings or laitance, as well as dust, oil or any other debris. If you are planning to apply an overcoat, make sure the surface profile is sufficient to provide the required adhesion.

Sika FerroGard-903+ Application Method & Tools

FerroGard903+ is supplied ready for use – don’t dilute or shake the material prior to use. Use a brush, roller, low pressure or airless spray equipment to apply the corrosion inhibitor to saturation. Once you’ve applied the final layer, wait until the surface become matt and clean before cleaning at a low pressure with a water hose. On the following day, clean the treated surfaces by pressure washing.

Sika FerroGard 903+ Curing Treatment

Sika FerroGard-903+ does not require any special curing but it must be protected from rain for at least 4 hours.

Limitations of Sika FerroGard-903+

Do not apply when rain or frost is expected. During the application of Sika FerroGard903+, protect construction materials such as aluminium, copper, galvanised steel, marble and other similar natural stone from splashes. We recommend using conventional repair methods (removal of delaminating or loose concrete, treatment of reinforcement, reprofiling etc.) to repair visible concrete defects (spalling, cracks etc).

For a full list of limitations, refer to the Sika FerroGard 903+ technical datasheet.
