Sika MonoTop 614 F

Sika MonoTop 614 F (25kg) is a cement-based, one component flowable repair mortar for horizontal or vertical repairs.

With a high range of water-reducing agents, its high mechanical and good flow properties make it ideal df for repairing bridges, tunnels, marine structures and fire damaged structures. Pre-bagged for quality and ready for use.

Best uses for Sika MonoTop 614 F

Sika MonoTop-614 F is commonly used for horizontal and vertical repairs of bridges, marine structures, tunnels, and buildings, as well as in fire damaged structures. The repair mortar can be used both externally and internally, as well as in place of R1, R2 and R3 mortars.

Characteristics of Sika MonoTop 614 F

Sika MonoTop-614 F offers low shrinkage and high mechanical properties. Thanks to its good flow properties, the repair mortar can be poured or pumped, repairing depths of up to 150 mm in one application. Sika MonoTop 614F can also be overcoated with Sika reprofiling or levelling mortars and coatings.

If stored correctly, Sika MonoTop-614 F has a shelf-life of six months from the date of production. Make sure to keep the repair mortar unopened in its original sealed and undamaged packaging in dry and cool conditions to optimise its shelf-life.

Sika MonoTop 614 F – Substrate Quality

Prior to applying the repair mortar, make sure to clean the substrate from any materials which can reduce the bond or prevent suction or wetting by repair materials. Ensure concrete is free from dust, loose material and surface contamination.

If you are using Sika MonoTop 614F for steel reinforcement, in addition to dust and other deleterious materials, you should check that the substrate is clear of rust, scale, mortar and concrete.

If you are using a formwork, make sure it’s all of adequate strength. Treat with a release agent and seal before application to prevent leakage. Ensure formwork includes outlets for extraction of the pre-soaking water. Construct a header box or a hopper on one side of the formwork so you can maintain a head of 150-200 mm when pouring the Sika MonoTop-614 F.

Application Method & Tools of Sika MonoTop 614 F

The following steps are involved in the application of Sika MonoTop 614F:

Sika MonoTop 614 F Mixing

Place the water into a forced action mixer or in a clean drum and slowly add a complete bag of Sika MonoTop – 614 F into the water. Mix continuously for 3 minutes to achieve a uniform and lump free consistency. Alternatively, you can use a slow speed drill (200- 500 rpm) and spiral paddle mixer to prepare the mortar.

Sika MonoTop 614 F – Application Method

As soon as it has been mixed, pour the Sika MonoTop 614F repair mortar into the prepared repair area. This helps maintain flow properties and allows you to benefit from the shrinkage compensating properties. Ensure continuous mortar flow during the entire pouring process to avoid trapping air. If you are working in cold weather, we recommend using warm water to assist with achieving strength gain and other physical properties.

Thoroughly clean all your application equipment with water immediately after use to avoid hardening. Once cured on tools, Sika MonoTop-614 F can only be removed mechanically.

Sika MonoTop 614 F – Curing Treatment

To ensure full cement hydration and to minimise cracking, cure the Sika MonoTop 614F repair mortar immediately after application for a minimum of 3 days. We advise using polythene sheeting taped down at the edges or other approved method. Avoid using curing compounds, as they might adversely affect products and systems applied later on.

Limitations of Sika MonoTop 614 F

Avoid applying Sika MonoTop-614 F in direct sun, strong wind and/or rain, and protect freshly applied material from freezing.

Make sure to only apply to sound, prepared substrates, and take care not to add water over recommended dosage. We also advise against adding water during the surface finishing, as it may lead to discoloration and cracking.

When using shutters or formwork, only pour or pump from one side and do not use vibrating pokers.
