Sika MonoTop 620
Part of Sika’s concrete repair range, Sika MonoTop 620 (25kg) is a cementitious smoothing coat mortar and pore sealer. The single-component cementitious modified mortar is used as a thin later render to repair minor defects, pores, and honeycombed concrete. Suitable for internal and external use.
Best uses for Sika MonoTop 620
Sika MonoTop-620 is most commonly used as a concrete pore sealer, a levelling mortar or a smoothing coat. Its applications include repairing pores and honeycombed concrete as well as other minor defects. Sika MonoTop620 creates a thin render-perfect layer for both exterior and interior use.
Pre-bagged for quality, Sika MonoTop 620 only requires water before it’s ready for application and forms layers between 1.5 and 5 mm thick. The mortar can also be applied using the wet spray method.
The maximum shelf-life of unopened Sika MonoTop-620 bags is six months from their production date, when kept properly sealed and stored in cool, dry conditions.
Sika MonoTop620 Mixing Time
For MonoTop-620 to reach the required consistency, we recommend stirring thoroughly for at least 3 minutes using a slow speed (< 500 rpm) electric drill mixer. Add powder to a mixing container full of water and stir slowly until mixed throughout.
Application Method & Tools of Sika MonoTop 620
There are a few different factors to consider when applying Sika MonoTop-620:
Sika MonoTop 620 Substrate Quality
Before applying Sika MonoTop620, make sure that the concrete has been thoroughly cleaned from any surface contamination, including dust, oil, existing renders or laitance coatings, as these can reduce bonding or prevent suction or wetting of the smoothing coat.
Sika MonoTop-620 – Application Method
When using Sika MonoTop 620 as a smoothing coat or a levelling mortar, pre-wet the surface and pre-fill any surface defects prior to application. Use a spatula or trowel to apply the mortar and finish with a moist neoprene sponge or brush once the layer has set before overcoating.
Take care not to overwork Sika MonoTop620 during or after application. If the mortar is wetted before fully cured, a white ‘bloom’ may appear on the surface. However, this won’t affect the properties of the mortar long term.
If you are using Sika MonoTop 620 as a pore filler, start by tightly trowelling over the surface before forcing the mortar into pores and other surface defects. Remove excess material from surface while wet and make sure to remove any dust deposits once dry to ensure optimal bond with subsequent coatings.
Sika MonoTop 620 Curing Treatment
To minimise cracks and ensure the cement is hydrated properly, let Sika MonoTop-620 cure for at least 3 days after application. We recommend taping a polythene sheeting at the edges as a preferred curing method. Avoid using curing compounds if you plan to overcoat the smoothing coat.
Limitations of Sika MonoTop 620
Apply Sika MonoTop620 away from direct sun, strong wind and/or rain. When the mortar is freshly applied, take care to protect the material from freezing. Avoid adding water over recommended dosage and make sure to only apply to sound substrates clean from debris.
