Parex Bond Plus Mortar FAQs
What is Parex Bond Plus Mortar?
Parex Bond Plus Mortar is one-part primer and bonding Adhesive for laying all sizes of paving units.
How do I mix Parex Bond Plus Mortar?
Pour the required quantity of clean water in to a suitable, clean mixing vessel. Slowly add the Parex Bond Plus Mortar whilst continuously mixing, using a slow speed, high torque drill and mortar stirrer. Continuously mix until a uniform mix is achieve, approximately 2 minutes.
How do I apply Parex Bond Plus Mortar?
Prime the prepared substrate and the underside of the paving units with the Bond Plus Mortar using a brush or trowel so the total applied thickness is 1-2mm.
Placing of Parex Fine Bedding Concrete and Paving
Apply the mixed Parex Fine Bedding Concrete (FBC) to the primed substrate before the priming coat has dried. Compact the FBC to ensure good contact with the underlying primed surface. Prime the back of the paving units being used with Parex Bond Plus Mortar.
Place the units onto the wet FBC and adjust the levels as required. Lay the paving unit onto the FBC immediately after priming, tapping it firmly to ensure the underlying FBC is fully compacted.
Application thickness of the FBC should be in the range of 30mm to 75mm. In situations where thick layers are required to be built up, the surface of the under layer should be left with a wood float finish and should be scored. Subsequent Parex Bond Plus Mortar and FBC layers may be applied as soon as the initial layer is firm enough not to distort under the new work. Parex Bond Plus Mortar may be applied at temperatures between +5°C (on a rising thermometer) and +35°C.
