It is the customers responsibility to provide an accurate delivery address. If the courier is unable to deliver your order due to issues with access to the delivery address, your goods will be returned to the local delivery depot for delivery on the next working day. Please note a redelivery charge of up to £89 plus VAT per pallet may be applied. If your order is undelivered and returned to us a restocking fee may also be applied.

If your order is over 150kg it may be delivered on a pallet. The courier will notify you of a two hour delivery window. In the event that no one is available at the address to receive the delivery a charge of up to £89 plus VAT per pallet may be applied for redelivery.

What is Sika Universal Wood Treatment 5 Star used for?
Sika Universal Wood Treatment 5 Star is an all-in-one wood preservative designed to protect timber against wet rot, dry rot, decay fungi and wood-boring insects. It is suitable for internal and external use and is designed to penetrate deeply into wood and joinery for longer-lasting protection. It is also low odour, non-flammable and dries quickly, which makes it suitable for both routine maintenance and preventative treatment work.
Which types of wood and applications is it suitable for?
It can be used on many common softwoods and hardwoods for projects such as sheds, garages, fencing, farm buildings, roof beams, joists, garden furniture, floorboards, window frames and doors. It can also be applied to damp timber without losing performance, which is useful where the wood is not fully dry but still sound enough to treat.
How should the timber be prepared before application?
The timber should be clean and free from paint, varnish, stain, grease, bark and other surface contamination before treatment is applied. If any decay is already present, the decayed timber should be removed and replaced with sound treated wood rather than simply coating over the damaged area. This helps the treatment soak in properly and improves the overall result.
How do you apply Sika Universal Wood Treatment 5 Star?
Shake the product well before use, then apply it by brush, spray or dipping. If brushing or spraying, at least two coats should be applied, with the second coat going on after the first has dried. Particular attention should be paid to the end grain, as this is where timber is often most vulnerable. For the best protection, dipping the end grain for at least 3 minutes is recommended where possible. The product is ready to use and should not be diluted.
Can it be painted, stained or varnished afterwards?
Yes, once the treatment is fully dry, the wood can be overcoated with paint, stain or varnish. For external timbers, overcoating is especially important, as exterior wood should be finished with a suitable topcoat to help protect the treated surface over time.
Are there any key limitations or precautions to know about?
Sika Universal Wood Treatment 5 Star should only be used as directed and should not be applied to surfaces used for food preparation. It should also be kept away from bitumen, roofing felt and plastics. Good ventilation is important during and after application until the treated surface is dry, and extra care is needed in areas such as roof spaces or around electrical circuits. It should be stored in its original container at moderate temperatures between 5°C and 30°C.
