Resiblock Indian Sandstone Sealer FAQs
What is Resiblock Indian Sandstone Sealer and what does it do?
Resiblock Indian Sandstone Sealer is a penetrating protective sealer for Indian sandstone and other natural stone paving. Its deep-penetrating formula infiltrates the porous structure of the stone to form a barrier that resists staining from oil, water and other contaminants, and inhibits algae and moss growth. It is available in two variants: Colour Enhancer, which enriches and deepens the stone’s natural colour, and Invisible, which provides the same protection without altering surface appearance. A single coat provides protection lasting up to 5 years.
What types of natural stone can Resiblock Indian Sandstone Sealer be used on?
The sealer is suitable for most natural stone paving, including Indian sandstone, sandstone, Yorkstone, limestone and granite. It works best on dry, porous stone surfaces. As stone types and surface finishes vary, always test the product on a small, inconspicuous area before full application to check the result – particularly when using the Colour Enhancer variant, as colour deepening will differ between stone types and individual slabs.
How do I prepare the surface before applying Resiblock Indian Sandstone Sealer?
The surface must be thoroughly dry and clean before application. Remove all dirt, organic growth, surface staining and any loose material before sealing. Jointing sand must also be dry. Do not apply to damp or wet surfaces as this will affect how the sealer penetrates and bonds. Allow sufficient drying time after cleaning before proceeding. Application should only take place when temperatures are between +3°C and +30°C and no rain is forecast within the next 8 hours.
How do I apply Resiblock Indian Sandstone Sealer, and how much will I need?
Apply in a single coat using a Resiblock application roller or brush, working evenly across the surface. Coverage is approximately 4-6m² per litre depending on the porosity of the stone – more porous surfaces will absorb more product. Remove any pooling or buildup in depressions or textured areas using a roller, sponge or cloth to avoid uneven curing. A 5 litre container will typically cover 20-30m² in a single coat, though this will vary with surface porosity.
How long does Resiblock Indian Sandstone Sealer take to cure, and when can the area be used?
At +20°C, the sealer is typically ready for light foot traffic within 3-6 hours of application. Full chemical cure, including vehicle access where relevant, should be avoided for up to 24 hours for best results. Curing time will be affected by temperature and humidity – allow longer in cooler or more humid conditions. Do not apply if rain is expected within 8 hours of application.
What is the difference between the Colour Enhancer and Invisible variants?
Both variants offer the same core protection against staining, algae and UV degradation and last up to 5 years. The difference is purely aesthetic. Colour Enhancer deepens and enriches the natural tones of the stone, bringing out existing colours and giving the surface a more vibrant appearance. Invisible seals without altering the stone’s natural finish, leaving it looking the same as unsealed stone. If you are unsure which is right for your project, test both on a small area before committing to the full application.
What is the shelf life of Resiblock Indian Sandstone Sealer?
The shelf life is 18 months from the date of production in unopened containers. Store in a cool, dry location away from frost and direct heat. Once opened, use as soon as practicable and reseal the container securely between uses.
