Sika FastFix FAQs
What is Sika FastFix All Weather and what is it used for?
Sika FastFix All Weather is a ready-to-use paving jointing compound designed to point the joints between patio slabs, paving stones, and block paving. Unlike traditional sand and cement pointing, it requires no mixing and is applied directly into wet joints, making it a faster and cleaner option for patios, paths, pavements, and other outdoor paved areas.
It sets hard to create a durable finish that will not wash out, while still remaining water permeable. This is a key advantage because it helps rainwater drain naturally through the joints rather than sitting on the surface. It is also designed to provide a natural barrier against weed growth, helping reduce weeds pushing through between slabs over time.

What types of paving is Sika FastFix All Weather suitable for?
Sika FastFix All Weather is suitable for a wide range of common paving materials including flagstones, slabs, paving blocks, cobbles, Indian sandstone, and stone setts. This makes it a strong choice for both modern paving layouts and more traditional stone finishes.
In terms of where it can be used, it is designed for outdoor areas such as patios, pavements, footpaths, and paths. It is also suitable for driveways with light vehicular traffic, meaning it can handle occasional domestic car use when installed correctly.
For best results, the paving area should have good drainage, and the joints must be properly prepared so the compound can be compacted fully.
What joint width and depth do I need for Sika FastFix All Weather?
Sika FastFix All Weather is suitable for joints over 5mm wide and at least 20mm deep. These measurements matter because the product needs enough depth to compact properly and form a strong joint that will last.
If joints are too shallow or narrow, you are more likely to see early breakdown, weak joints, or patchy results. Sika also makes it clear that compaction is essential, so the joint needs to be deep enough for the material to be firmly pressed down and finished cleanly.
Can Sika FastFix All Weather be applied in the rain?
Yes. One of the main selling points of this product is that it can be applied in all weather conditions, including rainy conditions.
However, there is an important difference between “wet weather” and “standing water”. Before applying, the paving and joints should be thoroughly wetted, but any standing water must be allowed to drain away before you start brushing the compound in. This helps the material settle into the joints correctly.
If the freshly applied product becomes flooded by heavy rain, the setting time can be extended. Sika also notes that rain or moisture before full curing may temporarily soften the jointing compound, so it’s best to avoid heavy use until the product has properly set.
How long does Sika FastFix All Weather take to set and cure?
Setting time depends heavily on temperature and conditions.
In dry conditions above 15°C, Sika FastFix All Weather typically begins to set within 6 to 12 hours. In cooler temperatures between 4°C and 15°C, it may take up to 5 days to fully set.
If the compound is exposed to moisture or rain before it has fully cured, the product may temporarily soften, and the curing process can take longer than expected. This does not necessarily mean failure, but it does mean the paved area should be protected from heavy traffic until it has fully set.
For customers, the safest advice is usually: apply it when possible, then avoid walking or driving on the area until curing is complete for the conditions.
What is the shelf life and can Sika FastFix All Weather be reused once opened?
Sika FastFix All Weather has a shelf life of 12 months from the date of manufacture, as long as the bags remain sealed and unopened.
Once opened, the product should ideally be used within 1 hour. However, one of the key benefits of this product is that it can be stored and reused to reduce waste. Sika confirms that unused material can be stored in the bucket immersed in water for up to 1 month.
This makes it a practical choice for customers completing larger patios in stages or those who want flexibility without wasting leftover compound.
