Sika Release Oil FAQs
What can I use Sika Release Oil for?
- All common mould surfaces including wood, metal, polypropylene, ABS, polyurethane and other plastics which are susceptible to long term damage by conventional release agents.
- Pre-cast or in situ concrete.
- Absorbent and non-absorbent formwork.
- Heated formwork (up to 70 °C).
- Textured formwork.
How do I prepare the surface before applying Sika Release Oil?
All formwork should be clean and dry before application, with any residues of rust or concrete removed.
How do I apply Sika Release Oil?
- Stir thoroughly before application.
- Before casting, apply a thin and uniform film of Sika Release Oil to the clean, dry formwork or mould, ensuring that the entire area is covered. This can be done by brush, but a finely atomised spray coating is the best method. Any excess should be removed prior to casting the concrete.
- Once the formwork or mould has been removed, immediately clean and reapply Sika Release Oil.
- Pre-treatment with a second coat prior to use is recommended on new and unsealed timber.
- After application, an evaporation period of 20 minutes (at +20 °C) should be observed prior to casting.
